How can we support Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, and the great men and women that serve our country?
Regina Arcuri and William "Bill" Cleave answered that question by founding a nonprofit organization to support the service members and the mission of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, as well as active-duty personnel, reservists, guardsmen, veterans and their respective families.
Both Ms. Arcuri and Mr. Cleave have been involved in the Honorary Commander Program at Joint Base MDL for several years. Ms. Arcuri joined the installation’s first group of former honorary commanders inducted into the emeritus program when it was created in 2017.
The purpose of the Honorary Commander Program is to increase public awareness of the installation’s mission and foster a supportive relationship between military commanders and civic leaders. The goal is to educate civilian volunteers on the various missions of each service branch and encourage communication between installation commanders and surrounding towns. Honorary commanders are required to complete condensed training exercises that mimic those of service members in their respective branches, tour base operations to learn the mission of each branch, attend base ceremonies, and spend time with service members to understand how local communities can better assist them.
The MCMAC will allow Ms. Arcuri and Mr. Cleave to continue the important work of communicating the base’s mission as well as the needs of military families to local residents, business owners and government officials.
